What happened here?

Once Walthus was fully recovered he led the group deeper into the Marsh until they reached the village of the Licktoad Goblins. Something was obviously amiss. The wooden gate to the filthy village-fort was lying in shambles on the floor and there were signs of battle inside. Inside a pig pen, the cremated corpses of a dozen goblins could be found and the village appeared deserted. The group started to explore the village splitted in two groups: Orion and Walthus advancing stealthily and the rest moving in a separate group. Finally they encountered two groups of three goblins each and battle was joined!

Little House in the Swamp

After defeating the snake, our heroes continued their way to the Warden’s Shack, a place inhabited by a reclusive halfling called Walthus Proudstump who could provide information about Brinestump Marsh. They reached the place but Walthus proved very grumpy and uncooperative. This fact aroused the suspicions of the group and Orion and Fhaolinn decided to infiltrate the halfling’s place.

Stealthily they went around the house and climbed to the rear garden wall. The wall surrounded a swampy garden that didn’t gave good vibe to them, so they decided instead to enter through a window on the second floor. From there they  checked the rooms upstairs but found nothing out of the ordinary.

Finally they remarked that the floorplan didn’t match the floor downstairs and found a secret door in the bedroom. In a secret room they found a badly wounded and nearly delirious Walthus. Who was then the creature downstairs?

Fhaolinn returned outside and explain waht had happened and Orion stayed to take care of the wounded halfling. They decided to attack the house and break down the door. Grim used her Greataxe and after some attemts managed to open it, but she was attacked by the creature, which was revealed to be a faceless stalker.

A furious combat ensued and finally the group prevailed. A grateful Walthus explained how the creature had attacked him and had managed to hide after a desperate fight where his poisonous snakes helped him reach an stalemate. Walthus offered them his house to rest and volunteered to lead them to the goblin village once recovered.

The Campaign begins…

25th day of the month of Rova of the Year 4711, Sandpoint. A new group of heroes takes its first steps in the Lost Coast:

Orion, a male aasimar rogue,

Ana, an exotic female fetchling cleric of Pharasma,

Fhaolinn, a female sylph hunter,

Grimoire Noir “Grim’, a hulking female tiefling barbarian

and Steve “Carlsberg”, a human sorcerer

All of them had been living these last years in Sandpoint, closely linked to local worthies such as Ameiko Kaijitsu, Koya Mvashti, Sandru Vhiski and Shalelu Andosana. Their moment had finally arrived. After some years of peace a goblin tribe had been raising trouble again: the Licktoad Tribe, based on the Brinestump Marsh, located to the south of Sandpoint, has apparently found fireworks and they’re creating mayhem in the area. The veteran Sheriff Belor Hemlock could not spare guards to deal with the problem and decided to reinstate instead the old goblin bounty. 10 gold pieces would be offered for each goblin ear and 300 gp for the head of the Licktoad’s leader, Chief Gutwad.

Our heroes decided to accept the offer . Armed with more enthusiasm than experience they headed to the swamp. Their only lead was that the so called New Fish Trail used by local fishermen, led to the shack of a reclusive halfling, Walthus Proudstump, self-appointed “warden” of the swamp. He might know more about the goblin’s lair.

Brinestump Swamp was a foreboding place, not overly large, but overgrown with vegetation and difficult to navigate. The main course of water, the Soggy River, split in multiple courses creating a maze of islands. The group decided to stick to the trails and not risk trying to brave the chaotic wetlands.

Arriving to a second ramshackle bridge they were attacked by a large constrictor snake, fortunately spotted at the last moment by the observant Ana. A furious battle ensued, made more difficult by the lack of space. Grim fell to the water trying to gain position but finally the snake was injured by Fhaolinn and Orion and killed by Grim while trying to escape…
